And why are you waking me up at 6:00 AM on a Saturday?” I say as I check my phone what I see nearly makes me jump out of my skin. The time reads 12:00 PM. “I need to go!” I shout at her rushing to my closet. I search for my best button-up shirt. “I'm gonna be late, I’m gonna be late,” I mutter under my breath. When I can't find it I just throw on a plane shirt and hope nobody notices that it’s not button-up. I zoom past my sister and out the front door to my car. I drive at 45 mph the whole way to the conference center. When I get there I sprint to the room where I am supposed to present my powerpoint. As I run down the stairwell to the main podium to where I’m supposed to do my presentation. I trip on my feet, hit my head and black out, suddenly I feel as if I am falling through the floor. Then I land on something hard as rock. And the wind is knocked out of me. I gasp to catch my breath and black out again, I wake up in a hospital bed with nurses surrounding me, whispering. Then one of the nurses looks down and sees my eyes open. “Hi,” I mumble weekly. —---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few days later I get discharged from the hospital. As I make my way home I get side–swiped by another car, and I hit my head on the window. My head starts ringing with a high pitched noise. 1 Iuo My brother thinks he’s a genius just because he went to Harvard when he was 17. Now you might say, “He is a genius! Harvard at 17 years old!” But trust he’s no genius…at least socially. He thinks he’s “happening” . I mean who even uses that type of language anymore? Meanwhile, our parents glorified him like he built the pyramids of Gaza brick by brick. Funny Considering They never acknowledged the person who actually raised him, while they were of partying. But once he made it to Harvard they were all, “my little boy, ” and our dad, “I was always proud of you, son.” Ha, what baloney, and the best part Wylie actually believes them. Do I sound bitter? I am, my brother has been blessed with a 200+ IQ and he can't see what’s staring him in the face. Anyway, today I was expecting a lot of things when I woke up Wylie but not a phone call from the hospital. —----------------------------------------------------------- Rest assured he got out a few days later fine, but Sometimes I wish I had his luck. 2 ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝟚 Connor Me and Wylie have been friends since forever, even though we go to different schools. Were what you call “mom kids” Meaning our moms were friends and we were forced to hang out, but unlike most, “mom kids” We hit it off real quick. We pulled prank after prank on our moms and other adults. So when he was admitted to the hospital you best know the first person they called was me. —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I'm driving to the hospital to pick up , I get a text from Wylie saying that he'll be driving himself to his house. I call him on my phone and when he doesn't answer I mumble to myself “See if I try to do anything nice for you again.” As I turned my car onto the high-way, suddenly a car side–swiped me and I feel as if my stomach was squishing through my mouth. 3

Design Concept

Original Book Cover For
Visual Composition:

A mystical forest scene bathed in twilight, with ethereal green mist swirling around ancient, oversized trees. The trees have glowing runes etched into their bark. In the foreground, a mysterious, shimmering portal stands open, casting a soft greenish hue. A faint silhouette of a cloaked figure steps toward the portal, leaving a trail of luminescent footprints.

Design Typography:

Use of a serif font with elaborate flourishes for the title "Kronos," rendered in metallic gold. The author's name "Gabriel Araujo" is placed beneath in a clean, simple sans-serif font, colored in a muted earth tone.

Design Layout:

The book title is positioned at the top, with the portal taking center stage in the middle of the cover. The author's name is centered near the bottom. The background gradually fades from a rich green at the edges to an almost black in the center, bringing focus to the portal.

Rationale Behind the Design:

The design captures the fantasy genre's essence by immersing the viewer in a mystical atmosphere. The glowing portal and the green mist evoke a sense of magic and mystery, inviting the reader to step into the unknown world. The serif font choice, with its flourish, complements the mystical theme, while the metallic gold color adds a touch of opulence and significance to the title "Kronos." The sans-serif font for the author's name ensures clarity and does not distract from the main visual elements. The high-gloss finish enhances the colors' vibrancy, making the green mist and glowing elements more vivid, while the embossed title and textured background provide a tactile element that enhances the immersive experience. The overall layout ensures that the portal, the centerpiece of the composition, is the primary focal point, drawing readers into the fantasy realm the book promises.
